Microsoft is starting to remove Copilot from various parts of Windows 11.

Microsoft is scaling back its focus on artificial intelligence across its system by making changes to features like Notepad and the Capture Tool in Windows 11.

What was the actual difference?

The change in Notepad is understated, with the eye-catching Copilot icon being replaced by a more subtle symbol labeled as “Writ Tools”. Despite the change in branding, the artificial intelligence functions like writing, rewriting, and summarizing texts remain the same.

These tools are now easier to overlook since you can easily disable them in the settings, causing the button to disappear from the interface. Previously, this feature was more obscure and somewhat confusing.

In the Capture Tool, the Copilot button vanished after choosing a screen area, without any replacement, removing the AI integration from the application entirely, at least temporarily.

Why did you decide to change?

Microsoft had indicated that it was overemphasizing the integration of AI into the system and acknowledged the need to reduce these excessive elements for a more balanced experience.

The current adjustment is taking place slowly, with Copilot not disappearing but no longer being constantly dominant on the interface.

Not everyone desires AI in simple applications like Notepad, which aims to be quick, lightweight, and straightforward.
